We did get to go to Sea World a couple times this Christmas season. We all love it. One time the kids and I met up with Laura, Troy, Tyler, Taylor and Aunt Marilynn(Barbara's sister). Aunt Marilynn is from Indiana and had never been to Sea World. What a great experience to spend her first visit with her. We all had a blast. This is also the visit where the kids got to meet Santa at the Polar Express experience and go up in the Sky Tower for the very first time. In the Sky Tower, they were able to see Sea World from a bird's eye view. They loved it! On another visit, the kids got to see the Sesame Street Christmas show and also met some Sesame Street characters, Rosita and Cookie Monster. We also went to the Ice Skating show which was our favorite.

Thankful Turkey
We talked a lot about being thankful in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, often discussing the things we need to be thankful for and just how blessed we are.
The kids made Thankful Turkeys with Nana.
This is a project I used to do with my first graders when I was a teacher.
Here is a pic of Sydney's Thankful Turkey
Questions..questions..questions...
Christmas is a wonderful time of year.
I have decided that Christmas as a parent is way better than Christmas as a child.
To relive the magic of Christmas through your children is like nothing else.
Sydney is our believer all the way!! I mean, what three year old kid doesn't believe in Santa?
Well, I can't say for sure whether Parker believes or doesn't believe but what I can say for sure is that he questions EVERYTHING about it? Parker is a big, seeing is believing kind of guy.
One night driving home, Parker tells me reindeer can't fly because they don't have wings. I explained that the reindeer don't have tio have wings to fly because they have the magic of Christmas. The only time that reindeer can fly is on Christmas Eve. Later that week, we were reading a book about Reindeer Flight School. After the story was over, Sydney looks at Parker and says, "See, Parker, I told you that reindeer could fly!"
We went the the Polar Express experience at Sea World during the holiday season. The kids had a chance to meet Santa Claus there. A couple days after that, out of no where it seems, Parker asks, "Will the Santa Claus from Sea World come to our house?" I kind of dodged that one by saying, "Well, Santa has a lot of helpers out there while he is working hard at the North Pole." Another question, "The elves at Sea World aren't real are they Mommy? They are just people dressed up like elves". No response.
I am not sure if you remember our elf from last year, Fitzy. Quick recap, he is our "Elf on the Shelf". He comes to visit after Thanksgiving and helps Santa by keeping an eye on boys and girls. Every night after everyone is asleep, he heads back to the North Pole to report back to Santa on how the kids are doing. Then he returns before we wake and appears in a different part of the house and we have to go find him. Well, last year, yes that would be when they were still 2. Parker told us that Fitzy was not real because he had a tag on his back. I told him that everyone has tags on their clothes.
Fast forward to Christmas 2010...Fitzy arrives and Parker clearly states that Fitzy is not real because he doesn't talk. I remind him that Fitzy as strict orders from Santa and is only allowed to watch and listen, not talk. Parker may have not believed that Fitzy was real but he sure enjoyed waking up every morning leading up until Christmas and going to find Fitzy in the house.

Scooters.....shhhhhhhh
Ok so not so sure this story will be nearly as funny in print as it is when I tell it aloud but I will certainly try.
So it was a little early but during the weeks before Thanksgiving, we had started talking about Santa coming 'soon' and about being good. I was trying to get the kids to be "nice" and get the kids thinking about what they might want to ask Santa for.
So one day, the Target Toy Catalog came in the mail and the kids were looking through it with Daddy and pointing out things they might want to ask Santa for.
The kids saw scooters and immediately said that they wanted scooters. Parker said he wanted the Buzz Lightyear Scooter(or as he says it Buzz Yightyear). Sydney said she wanted the Disney Princess scooter.
Well it was before Thanksgiving but the Target catalog came with some coupons for the scooters, so I went on a Monday after work to pick them up. I was so excited because this was the one BIG GIFT they really really wanted.
As soon as I got home, I showed them to my Mom. She reminded me to get them out of there before Wednesday when she would be driving my car to take the kids to the library. Of course I would have them out by then!
Later that night, Patrick, the kids and I were sitting down to dinner. Patrick said he was thinking about going to get some firewood as it was the first cold night of the season. I agreed and asked him to take the kids with him so that I could clean up the kitchen.
When they got back from the store, Patrick pulled me aside and told me, "Parker knows about his scooter." OH NO, I thought. He couldn't explain any further at the time and by the time the kids had gone to bed it slipped my mind. Until the next morning, when the first thought of the day was, Christmas is ruined!! Patrick explained that as the kids were climbing back into the car at Home Depot, Parker quietly said, "Can I ride that sometime?" Patrick was taken a back and asked him what he was talking about. "The Buzz Yightyear scooter" was Parker's response. Patrick brushed him off with a "I don't know what you're talking about". Sydney chimes in, "What is Parker talking about?" Patrick replied with " Nothing." It was dropped and that was that. Until....
So the next couple days go by and he says nothing. It is driving me crazy because I want to know what is going through that mind of his. I knew that there was no way he had forgotten and I had come to terms with the fact that we would not be able to pass off the scooter as a gift from Santa. So what was he thinking?
On Thursday evening, it was just the kids and myself eating dinner. During dinner, we started talking about magic and things that are magical. I thought what a great segway to Santa. So I reminded the kids that soon we would be sitting down to write their letters to Santa. I asked them what they might ask Santa for. Sydney responds, "Baby Doll." Parker says to Sydney, "Don't you want a fast bike like mine?" Then Parker went quiet and anytime Parker is quiet you know the wheels are turning. He then looked at me and simply said, "Maybe someday soon I can ride my scooter." My response, "What scooter are you talking about?" Parker, "My Buzz Yightyear scooter." Me, " I don't know what you are talking about, Buddy." Parker, "Yea, my Buzz Yightyear scooter in the back of the car." Me, "Whose car?" Parker, "Your car. Here, let me show you." He grabs my hand and starts to lead the way to the garage. Sydney, "Can I come too?"
We get to the back of the car and I open the liftgate. I picked up both the kids and let them climb through the back of the car. I picked up a little Buzz Lightyear backpack that was sitting back there and said, "Maybe you saw this?" but Parker was on a mission and was searching all through the car. Sydney tired quickly, got out and ran into the house. Finally, Parker decide he was done looking and got out too. As we were walking back into the house, I said, "Wow, Buddy, you must have had a really good dream!". Parker, "No I didn't. It wasn't a dream. Quiet for a second and then, "Maybe you hid it in the house because it's supposed to be a surprise." Quiet again for a second(wheels turning again). Then, "No, maybe you put in the attic?. Yea that's it, you put it in the attic."
WHAT???!!!!
Thank goodness I was walking ahead of him because I swear my jaw hit the floor. I was speechless.
~~
The kids had never been in the attic or seen us hide anything in the attic.
They may have seen us pull camping gear and halloween decorations out but nothing else so no idea where he came up with the idea but he was right.

Downtown Disney
Took the kids to Downtown Disney for the first time. Not sure why we didn't think of it before. They were so excited to see everything Disney all around.
Pumpkin Patch
Patrick was out of town for a work event so I decided to take the kids back to the pumpkin patch. You would have thought they were at Disney World. They had so much fun and did not want to leave. The pumpkins are pricey so we ended up with some smaller than the ones in this pic and then we bought our carving ones at Walmart.
The pumpkin patch is at a horse ranch. The kids loved feeding the horses grass.

Sea World Spooktacular 2010
In October, we renewed our passes for Sea World. Here are Parker and Nana hula-hooping at the Sea World Spooktacular .
And here is Sydney giving it a try.
Silly faces!
Aunt Carrie and Jatt's wedding
In September, we were so lucky to share in Carrie and Jatt's wedding. Here are a few pics of that special day.
Boogieboarding
This summer we spent many days at the beach. The four of us love it so much! Patrick thought it would be fun to get the kids boogie boards. I thought they were too young and would get clobbered by the waves but I was wrong. Yes this is me saying I was wrong. They did great! Here are some video.

First Dentist Appointment
In August, the kids went to the dentist for the first time. It has a cool pirate theme.
Parker sat right down and let them get to work. The cool thing about this place is they explain everything that they are doing and let the kids play with all the equipment. This is the only time that Sydney was smiling at the dentist. This was before their appointment inside the pirate ship watching classic Mickey Mouse cartoons. Did not get any pics of Syd during her appointment because she was not happy. Hopefully next time will be easier.
The GREAT news is their teeth look great and Dr. King told them to keep up the good work!

GG came to visit
Storytime
Here is Sydney telling a story. Parker tells great stories too but he always seems to make his stories short and silly whenever I turn the camera on him.
